What is a Mastectomy Bra?

A mastectomy bra is designed to resemble a regular bra, but customized to suit the needs of the patient who has gone through the mastectomy. This type of bra typically has soft inner linings and no seams to prevent irritation or pain on healing scars post-mastectomy. It is made from breathable and comfortable fabric to minimize sweating. Many mastectomy bras also contain inner spandex stretch pockets in order to keep the breast prosthesis in place or to accommodate surgical drains if necessary. There are a wide variety of post-mastectomy bras available, namely t-shirt bras, camisoles, front-fastening bras, sports bras, and more. Each style and material used hold a different benefit for the patient.
